Location: The ranch is located on the Judith River 30 miles northwest of Lewistown and 11 miles east of Denton. Entrance to the property is less than one half mile north of Highway 81. Nearby to the north about 2 or 3 miles are over 6,500 acres of lands entrusted with Montana Dept of Fish & Wildlife for public hunting and other recreation. Lewistown has been in national magazines and journals as one of the best places in America to live and hunt & fish. The privacy and quality of life in this area is unsurpassed.

Lewistwon Area: Lewistown (Pop. of 6,500) is in the Center of Montana surrounded by five area mountain ranges. To the north is the Missouri River / Ft. Peck recreation area noted for all types of hunting and fishing recreation. Lewistown is 130 miles from Billings and 105 miles from Great Falls, both have service for major airlines. Currently Great Lakes Airlines provides daily commercial air service from Denver to Lewistown.

Ranch Size: This ranch contains 1,784 + deeded acres. The Fergus County Farm Service Agency indicates there are about 606 acres of tillable lands on the property. The current use of these lands are hay production, tame pasture, and CRP.

Water: The Judith River meanders through this property for about a mile. Besides the river there are 3 or 4 coulees and draws that have seasonal water. The Judith River has a variety of fish populations depending on the time of year. There is a mix of Brook Trout, Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Catfish, and Sauger. Big Spring Creek enters the Judith River about 5 miles above stream to both maintain a constant flow of water and to enhance the quality of fishing even during times of low snowfall in the Mountains. The Judith River is also an enjoyable river for half or full day floating adventures.

Wildlife & Habitat: This property would make an excellent Deer and Bird habitat project. There are Mule Deer, Whitetail Deer, Pheasants, and Upland Game Birds with occasional turkey and elk on the north end. The number and varieties of wildlife would increase with some wildlife management practices such as introducing small grains (wheat, barley, oats, safflower, corn, millet, new alfalfa) and rows of shelterbelts. The natural habitat especially with all the riverfront is ideal for Mule Deer, Whitetail Deer, Pheasants, Geese and various other waterfowl.

Conservation Easements: There are no conservation easements in place on this property.

Comments: Central Montana is known statewide as one of the better bird hunting areas. This property is located 28 miles northwest of Lewistown with a modest set of buildings one half mile off the paved road. This property has the natural habitat plus Cropland, Hayland, CRP, and One mile of the Judith River. Wildlife on the ranch include Mule Deer, Whitetail Deer, Sharptail Grouse, Pheasants, and Hungarian Partridge. Even though the numbers are good a finely tuned wildlife management program would enhance the numbers. And if more land is better, there is an adjacent 880 acres with 2.5 miles of common boundary is for sale and an additional two miles of river. Together they would make a great bird hunting empire.
